As part of your registration, you will have the opportunity to select the workshop you wish to attend. Each session is designed to provide an interactive and engaging experience, offering practical insights, meaningful discussion, and opportunities for reflection.
Please note that workshop capacities are limited to ensure a high-quality participant experience. Workshop places will therefore be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and attendees are encouraged to register early to secure their preferred session. If a workshop reaches capacity, alternative options will remain available during the registration process.
Who do we assume will leave early? Who do we assume will stay late? Who do we assume will put work first? Our assumptions about parents and caregivers can shape careers long before anyone says them out loud. Let’s uncover those biases, spot the microaggressions—and explore how to make predictable biases work for us, not against us.
For many professionals, the need itself is already hard to name — and once it is named, guilt attaches to it before it can even be spoken: the sense that a legitimate need is somehow an imposition, requiring an apology before it can be heard.
In this hands-on session, Leen Vermeersch turns caregiving-related needs — flexibility, workload, protected time — into four clear sentences participants can use immediately, without the guilt, the over-explaining, or the apology built into the ask. No scripts to memorise. Just a reliable structure for the request, and enough practice to use it with confidence.
At work, you feel bad for leaving at 5 p.m. even though you arrived at 7:30
During dinner at home, you can't help but check your emails instead of being present with your family.
You're exhausted but if you ever take some time for yourself, you think you should be doing something else.
You're trying to do everything perfectly. And even though you can't, you feel terribly guilty about it.
How can you leave that guilt and perfectionism at the door? How do you regain some peace of mind ?
During this workshop, you'll see ways to dial down on the negative feelings you feel from having such high standards. You'll realise how much pressure you really put on yourself. And most importantly, you'll see how to let go of those feelings and grow your self-esteem.
Caring for ageing parents while your children still need you? You’re not alone.
